EXHIBITION at Spike Island involving lots of different materials stacked and crunched everywhere. The installation takes you into a different world almost. Beutler has inspired me to create a fully immersive installation experience for my audience. As my final piece reveals a quite shocking and touching ending, I want the installation to be quite inviting and capturing... I plan to have comfortable cushions for viewers to sit on, and surround them will be netting mimicking fishing nets then the viewer has to make there way through to get to the films. The viewer is meant to feel enclosed, maybe claustrophobic. This is capturing what maybe an octopus or any other sea creature would feel being captured in a net. Or even keeping sea life as pets - where they have the whole ocean to be free and swim, they are restricted to the equivalent of space within a grain of rice.
