Boy meets girl... a title given to this photograph taken on the London trip - the opposing colours and gender assumptions The first gallery visited was the Gagosian Gallery, fulled with paintings by Albert Oehlen - his first solo exhibition in London. Oehlen's painting style is unpredictable, he relies on impulse and uses his fingers as brushes to collage and also computerise pieces. He approaches each piece differenty, by setting up a set of structural limitations - either his palette or maybe pace. The tree like forms in his pieces stand out for me the most as trees are alive with beauty and give us energy to breathe, which contrasts with the strong blues and reds which aren't normally associated with trees - browns, greens. The tree has been a recurring motif for Oehlen with paintings such as UNTITLED (1989)
